So much fear, so often unfounded,….
Even with the best of wings, most people won’t fly until they have absolutely no choice.

~

Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It’s too high!
COME TO THE EDGE!
And they came
And he pushed
And they flew.

This brief, intense poem was written by English poet Christopher Logue in 1961, for a poster announcing an exhibition of work by Guillaume Apollinaire at the ICA.

Sadly, it’s been misattributed to Apollinaire ever since.

“In a sky full of people, only some want to fly.
Isn’t that crazy?”
