I sketch. I sketch a lot — thumbnails, comps, gesture studies, anatomical studies, and just-for-fun doodling.
The image above is a quick gesture sketch: Sharpies on thin, unsized typing bond that I’d squirreled away after parting company with my old typewriter — paper is paper, and any paper is good enough for a doodle.
The beauty of markers on thin, unsized paper is that it bleeds through so bloody quickly that I’m forced to throw the sketch down really-really quickly to keep from ruining whatever is under my drawing paper — the antique Belgian lace tablecloth, for instance,… dammit. Maybe I’m just a bit peculiar, but I actually like that. Except for the bit about the tablecloth.
